Substitute Teacher Blogs You Must Check Out
There is a blog out there for a litany of subjects and that includes blogs for substitute teachers. Sub Sidekick has its own blog on the main website. But if you’re a sub that’s new on the scene or one that needs fresh reading material, check out these three blogs.
- Just a Substitute Teacher: Since April 2004, Mark Perry has been blogging his substitute teaching adventures in the California area. There’s a bit of something for every sub in this blog, such as stories about hard-to-handle classrooms, recaps of what went on during a specific day of teaching and Perry’s own commentary on the goings-on of teaching.
- Confessions of a Modern Day (Ex) Substitute Teacher: This blog has been on the scene since March 2013 and written by Christine, who has been substitute teaching “for the most part” since graduating in 2008. Though her blog is also written for teachers and students who have dealt with subs, substitute teaching is still a prime focus. She discusses what her first day as a substitute was like, summaries of her week at school, aptly titled: This Week at School and tips for substitutes in areas such as organization and how to liven up the end of a school day.
- High School Humor Blog: As its name suggests, this website “takes a humorous approach to high school, politics, pop culture, and political high school pop culture.” In short, it’s full of funny blog posts. But there are some posts a substitute teacher will enjoy reading, such as 100 Tips for the Substitute Teacher, which explains everything you need to know about subbing and more.
